Our Story

The Man.
The Mission.
The Comics.

Old Man Warner in the 616 LLC wasn't born in a warehouse — it was born in a long box. We're collectors first, sellers second, and we built this store the way we wanted to buy from when we started collecting.

The name is a love letter to Marvel's "Earth-616" — the main continuity universe — because real comics live in continuity. History matters. Context matters. Condition matters. That's the standard we hold every single book to.

What We Stand For

The 616 Standard

🔍
Honest Grading

We grade with our eyes and our conscience. If a book has a flaw, you'll read about it — in the listing, before you buy. No surprises on delivery.

📦
Packaging You Can Trust

Every book ships bagged, boarded, and sandwiched between rigid cardboard backers. We pack comics the way we'd want ours packed.

💬
Real Communication

Questions? We answer them. Problems? We solve them. We've been on the buying side — we know what good service feels like.

🌌
Passion-Driven Selection

We don't list everything. We list what excites us — key issues, historical pieces, and the kind of comics that made us fall in love with the hobby.

Our Journey

From Collector to Curator

60s
The 1960s
The Golden Era Begins

The comics that started it all — Gold Key's licensed properties, Marvel's Silver Age revolution, DC's superhero renaissance. The books we now sell were being pulled off spinner racks for 12 cents.

70s
The 1970s
Bronze Age Gold

Comics got darker, weirder, and more ambitious. Bronze Age keys from this decade are among the most undervalued pieces in the hobby — and we know where they are.

Frequently Asked

Everything you need to know about buying from Old Man Warner in the 616 LLC — grading, shipping, returns, and more.

We grade using the Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide standard, which is the industry's most trusted grading system. We err on the side of conservative — if we're on the fence between two grades, we call it the lower grade. What you read in the listing is what you get, or better.
On a 55+ year old comic, the difference is significant. VF (Very Fine, 8.0) shows minimal signs of wear — slight corner blunting, minor stress marks. NM (Near Mint, 9.4+) looks nearly unread, with sharp corners and minimal spine stress. Silver Age NMs are exceptionally rare. We note every flaw we find in our listings.
Some are, some aren't. CGC-slabbed books are listed as such with their certified grade. Raw (unslabbed) books are graded by us personally and described in detail. We can discuss CGC submission options for specific books — contact us through eBay messaging.
Every comic ships bagged in an appropriately-sized Mylar or polyethylene bag and boarded with an acid-free backer board. The bagged/boarded book is then sandwiched between two pieces of rigid cardboard and placed in a padded mailer or box appropriate to the value of the book. We take packaging seriously — your book should arrive exactly as it left us.
Yes — combined shipping is available when purchasing multiple items. Add items to your cart and the combined shipping discount will apply at checkout, or contact us through eBay and we'll calculate it manually. We want to make buying multiple books as affordable as possible.
Yes, we ship internationally. Please note that import duties, customs fees, and tariffs are the responsibility of the buyer — we have no control over these charges. International shipping times vary by destination. High-value international orders may require additional packaging and insurance.
Absolutely — just ask. Send us a message through eBay and we'll photograph any specific details you want to inspect before committing. We understand that buying a vintage comic sight-unseen requires trust, and we're happy to provide as much visual information as you need.
Many of our listings accept Best Offer. Even on fixed-price listings, feel free to reach out — we're reasonable people and we'd rather find the right home for a book than hold out for a number. Serious offers are always considered.
Yes. Despite earlier editions of the Overstreet Price Guide listing a variant, there is definitively only one printing of Star Trek #1. It always features the William Shatner pin-up on the back cover. There is no "ad variant." Overstreet has since removed this distinction from their guide.
We accept returns within 30 days of delivery. If a book arrives significantly different from its listing description, we'll make it right — full refund or exchange, your choice. We back our grading with our reputation. Returns are handled through eBay's standard process.
Contact us immediately through eBay with photos of the damage. We've handled this situation before — we'll work with you on a resolution, whether that's a partial refund, full refund, or filing an insurance claim. We pack carefully to prevent this, but when it happens, we make it right.
